Arson Investigation Underway
By Carole Leeder A barn in northwest Llano county burned last Sunday night/early Monday morning. It is considered a total loss. The barn had just been renovated last year. Apparently, the hand tools that were in the barn were taken before the fire was started. It is estimated that the tools were valued at $13,000.
Hazmat Crew at the Scene
On Sunday afternoon, July 7, an 18-wheeler was traveling west on State Highway 71. As it was going down the hill approaching “Lottie Roberts” corner (aka County Road 306), it left the roadway and turned over. Special Operation teams from Cedar Park and Round Rock were called in and they identified the substance as ID-2922/Corrosive that is used for cleaning equipment.
The Commissioners want to show their appreciation to the First Responders of Llano County. Most people are honored with one day, but our First Responders are so special and appreciated in Llano County that the Commissioners set aside the entire month of July for the county to show how much we value each and every one of them.
Since the flood of 2018, when much of Badu Park was destroyed, work has been ongoing to restore the park, allowing for annual events to continue to take place. One concern is Santa’s room where he meets with the kids to hear their Christmas list wishes. Thomas Bostick Jr., often referred to as Tommy, was born on December 8, 1969 in San Diego, California. He is the son of Brenda and Jim Richardson of Llano and Tommy and Ann Bostick of Midland.  Brenda and Jim moved to Llano in 1982. Tommy moved in 1985, making Llano his home as well.

At the age of 19, Fred Cook had just attended his first year of college in June 1967 and married his sweetheart Becky Broderick, when the U.S. Military began drafting part-time students. Though he was planning to attend college the following year, rather than being drafted, Fred chose to join the United States Air Force. “What I remember most about basic training is that it takes away individuality and creates a team,” recalled Fred.

On Friday, June 28, a ribbon cutting ceremony was held to commemorate the opening of the Barrel House, located at 101 E. Main St. in Llano. The building is previously known as Main Street Affairs.
