The Lady Eagle Seventh and Eighth grade girls took on Comfort for their first home basketball game of the season Monday evening. The Seventh were defeated 18-36 while the Eighth graders were victorious 25-18.
The Lady Eagle Seventh graders battled hard against Comfort. The game was close after the first quarter, with Comfort leading 10-6.
City hall has a new employee in the form of a High School Intern. Alyssa Rose started in the Public Works Department of City Hall through the new internship program sponsored by Lyndon B. Johnson High School.
LBJ High School Principal, Julie Storer reported that this is the first year the high school started offering internships through their Career Preparation and Ag Practicum classes.
Mikayla Frederick of Lyndon B. Johnson High School received her invitation to the National Society of High School Scholars back in July, just before beginning her senior year.
She was noticed by the NSHSS for her exceptional score on the US History STAAR Test. Her plans for after graduation is to go to San Antonio College to complete her core classes and transfer into University of Texas San Antonio to study criminology.
The Johnson City Eagles were looking for their first district win of the season and the second victory at Eagle Field, unfortunately they found neither. With the loss the Eagles finish the season at 3-7 and were winless in district play going 0-5.
Johnson City took the opening kickoff and went for a fourth and two and a surge of comfort defenders stopped quarterback Brett Harris short of the needed yards.
The Varsity Lady Eagles earned the title of Bi-district champions and won their spot in the next round of playoffs after beating the Natalia Mustangs earlier this week.
The match was won in three games 25-10, 27-25, 25-10, favoring Johnson City.
The front row regulars were killing it Monday, October 31. Aleigh Wessels was the point leader with 11 kills, Skylar McKennis had eight kills and Bella Mae Swafford had six kills.
Skylar McKennis led the team on the serving line, serving three aces.
Ayden Hubenak would not be denied a trip to Austin to compete at the State Track and Field Meet, Ayden cleared 12'9'' and won the Region IV Pole Vault. Ayden will compete against 8 other vaulters from across the state Saturday May 14th in Austin at the University of Texas' Mike Meyers Track Complex.
For the 9th year in a row, the JC FFA Wildlife team placed in the top ten at the State Wildlife CDE (Career Development Event).
The 2016 contest was held at the Richards Ranch near Jacksboro on April 26.
Lane Evers, Grey Grote, Darren Sultemeier, and Colby Turner placed 3rd out of the 49 teams which had qualified from the 10 FFA Areas in Texas.

The Hill Country Cattle Women work diligently each year to raise funds to award to scholarship recipients. These are awarded to students who attend a Texas college or university, and are at the Junior or Senior level.
Our junior high tennis traveled to Llano on Wednesday, April 20th to compete in an after school dual against players from Llano and Faith Academy. Against some very talented privately trained tennis players, we managed to secure five wins against four losses.

JC staff and students completed one of the most successful weeks of extracurricular competition in recent memory last week and the spring activities aren’t done yet.
Starting it off on Tuesday the Fighting Eagle Band earned their first UIL Sweepstakes Trophy by completing the hat-trick of Division 1 ratings in Marching, Concert and Sight-Reading Competition at the UIL Contest in Liberty Hill.
