After the first round of district play Coach Lewis Jenkins has his Eagles soaring. The Eagles are sitting on top in the district race with a 6-0 record. The high-flying Eagles traveled to Lago Vista Tuesday night and brought home an 11 point victory, 55-44. The Eagles jumped to a 5 point lead in the first quarter with Wells Deleon leading the way scoring 9 points in the period.
Tuesday night the Lady Eagles traveled to Lago Vista to face the Lady Vikings, which are sitting on top of the district at this point. The Lady Eagles showed signs of how good they can be in the first half, playing with the district leaders. The Lady Eagles came out and played an awesome first quarter and only trailed the Lady Vikings by 6, 10-16. The Lady Vikings heated up in the second quarter matching their first quarter score plus one.
The Johnson City Eagles continue to soar in 2017. The Eagles traveled to Comfort Tuesday night and remained perfect in district play with two games to play in the first round of district play. The Eagles will face Lago Vista Tuesday in the Vikings gym and host Gateway Charter School Friday night at home.
The Johnson City Lady Eagles traveled to Comfort last Tuesday night and ran into a red-hot Comfort team. The Lady Eagles dropped to 1-4 in district play and 4-17 on the season. The Lady Eagles hosted St. Paul Saturday afternoon, more on that game will be in next week’s paper. Despite the Lady Eagles’ record Coach Katy Taylor is pleased with the progress of her young and inexperienced team.
The Lady Eagle 7th and 8th grade girls took on the Lady Warriors from Ingram in basketball action Monday evening. 7th Grade Our Lady Eagle 7th graders battled from the start with a tough Ingram team that easily defeated them earlier in the season. The game started off a bit rough with our Lady Eagles quickly falling behind.
Congratulations to the LBJ art students that competed in the 2016 San Antonio rodeo art contest December 10 and 11, 2016. Ten students from Johnson City won awards and placed in the contest. “This was one of the largest Rodeo Art Shows in Texas.” Said LBJ High School Art Teacher, Diane Hudson.
The Johnson City Eagles opened district play Friday night against the Warriors from Ingram Tom Moore High School. The Eagles used a strong second half to pull away from the Warriors and claim a 64-49 victory. The Eagles are 1-0 in district play and 8-4 overall. The Eagles will take a holiday break and will be back in action after Christmas.
The 33rd/424th Judicial District Attorney’s Office, which covers Blanco County, has received a grant from the Texas Governor’s Office to help with costs associated with an upcoming capital murder trial. According to published reports, Llano-Burnet-Blanco District Attorney Wiley “Sonny” McAfee’s office received $223,000 to help with expenses in the case involving John Lawrence, 24, who is accused of sexually and physically abusing 15-month-old Sunny Bort, the daughter of Lawrence’s g ...
Johnson City hosted the Lady Warriors from Ingram Friday night and lost a close contest 47-35. The Lady Eagles fell to 0-2 in district play and 2-11 on the year. The Lady Eagles will take a break and resume play after Christmas. Johnson City and Ingram matched baskets in the first quarter and took a 10-8 lead in the opening period.
The Johnson City School Board held their last regular meeting for 2016 on Monday December 13. Main discussion topics were the latest audit report, the possibility of accepting transfer students, and the athletic report from Johnson City School District’s Athletic Director, Chris Cloninger who announced the UIL honors from the Volleyball and Football season. Audit Report Routine business took just a few minutes before accountant, Keith Neffendorf of Neffendorf & Knopp, P.C.
