SAN MARCOS– Cicero A. Rust III, a resident of Blanco, Texas, has given a gift of $25,000 to the Texas State University Development Foundation to establish a permanent endowment entitled the Cicero Alexander Rust III Endowed Scholarship in Musical Theatre. "The endowment is in honor of my grandchildren through the Lord: Savannah Nicole McDougall, Abigail Rose McDougall, Joshua Alexander McDougall and Courtney Nicole Moraign de Alexander Quintanilla,"
AUSTIN—Rebecca Bell-Metereau filed as a candidate today in the March 3 Democratic Primary to represent District 5 on the Texas State Board of Education. Bell-Metereau is a professor of English at Texas State University. “I’m running because we need to do a better job preparing our young people for the future.
The Blanco County Farm Bureau Board of Directors decided to donate $200 to all four of the local 4-H clubs. Because Farm Bureau puts a big emphasis on youth, they want to challenge children early, and think it’s important children know about the food they eat, and the fiber that makes up the clothes they wear.

Origins The Blanco County News recently interviewed Blanco County Community Choir (BCCC) Co-Director Vicky Pautz. Pautz told the BCN that in 1975 Beverly Voron of Johnson City created the BCCC as a community choir group that would bring the voices of Blanco and Johnson City together. Vicky and her husband Dr. Doug Pautz moved to Blanco in 1980, and Vicky began singing with the BCCC.
It was a record crowd at the First United Methodist Church this year, with more than 200 diners served at the Free Community Thanksgiving Potluck Feast, including a couple dozen who had take-out meals delivered. AUSTIN— Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar on Nov. 25 announced the transfer of $3.33 billion into the State Highway Fund and into the Economic Stabilization Fund, commonly known as the Rainy Day Fund.  Each fund received more than $1.66 billion, or 50% of the total transfer. The transfer amounts are based on crude oil and natural gas production tax revenues in excess of 1987 collections.
