Holiday tradition breaks another record!
Alex Theriot won the Biggest Bite contest. He’s from Nederland, in town for the holiday with grandparents and lunch at the Free Family Thanksgiving Potluck Feast. It was a good place for him — Alex’s home is near the chemical plant which exploded in Port Neches a few days earlier, so his parents were having their holiday turkey in an evacuation shelter. It was a record crowd at the First United Methodist Church this year, with more than 200 diners served at the Free Community Thanksgiving Potluck Feast, including a couple dozen who had take-out meals delivered. Food came from diners themselves, plus the East Main Grill, Fat Boy’s Burgers, Pecan Street Brewing, Ronnie’s Barbecue, and Lewis Eckenrode’s turkey-frying and -smoking production line.
