Three Johnson City residents were arrested Friday after a month’s long investigation by Blanco Police Department. Friday morning, February 10, multiple law enforcement agencies executed a search warrant in the 200 block of Odiorne Rd. The search warrant was obtained by Blanco Police Department who had been investigating a case involving Sue, Billy and Ryan Lamar. During Tuesday’s regular council meeting, Council Members discussed courthouse sidewalk repair and took comments from citizens concerned about safety on Ranchview Dr. and taking a stance on the Johnson Amendment. This meeting was the first in years to open with an invocation, given by local pastor, Steve Sanchez. The Johnson City Lady Eagles had a difficult week, facing two of the top teams in their district. Coach Katy Taylor knew the task would be tough, but she is extremely proud of the way her young Lady Eagles have competed this season. The Lady Eagles headed south down 281 12 miles Tuesday and took on the Lady Panthers from Blanco.
Several of the Blanco County youth participated in the Lamb and Goat Show at the Hill Country District Livestock Show in Kerrville on January 19-20. This show is the 5th largest in the state. Blanco County was well represented with several of them placing in the top 10. Only the top three placing animals in each class make the sale.
The Blanco County Pioneers Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas (DRT) is calling on all Blanco County fourth and seventh grade students to submit essays for the annual Texas History Essay Contest. Local contest winners in each category will receive cash awards of $100 dollars for first place and $50 for second place submissions.
Drivers traveling on US 290 West will have to slow down. The speed limit between Stonewall and Fredericksburg has been reduced from 70 to 60 miles per hour. On January 26, TxDOT announced that the Texas Transportation Commission voted to approve the reduced speed limit the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) proposed.
