Earlier this month, candidates for the March 6 primary election registered to be on the ballot. County positions such as Judge and Commissioners for Precinct 2 and 4 are up for election this year.
The race is on for Precinct 2. After current Precinct Two Commissioner did not register for re-election, three candidates emerged to run for the Precinct 2 position.

The “CLOSED” sign on the front of Ronnie’s Ice House Barbeque was a sad sight for Johnson City residents. After two months recovering from knee replacement surgery Ronnie’s Ice House Barbecue reopened earlier this month with Ronnie Weiershausen back at the pit smoking and serving Texas barbecue.
A staple off Hwy 281 since 1976, Ronnie has served close to two million happy customers.
In May of 2017, the Johnson City School Board announced Richard Kolek would be filling the position of Superintendent for JCISD. Earlier this month, he gave his State of the District report to the school board for the first time since he was hired. Among the top matters of business were financing, enrollment and technology.

The City Council met for their regular meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2017. The Council agreed to revisit the idea to number their Council places and received reports from city departments.
During Public Comments, a Johnson City resident requested the council revisit the topic of assigning place numbers to City Council seats to simplify elections.

The Commissioners held their second regular meeting for November on Tuesday, Nov. 28. In the short meeting, they appointed representatives to the South Blanco County Emergency Services District and conducted routine business.
Commissioners approved the appointment for the South Blanco County Emergency Services District representatives. Carl Struck and Lynne McKirdy were appointed to two-year terms beginning Jan.
After three hours of deliberation in closed session, the City Council and Randy Holland came to a mutual agreement to end his employment as Johnson City Chief of Police at a special meeting held on Nov. 27 at Johnson City, City Hall.
Holland accepted voluntary administrative leave effective until June 13, 2018 on which date he will honorably retire from Johnson City Police Department.
