The contract between Blanco County and Zuercher Technologies for the Sheriff’s Office computer aided dispatch system has been finalized and approved by county officials. Parents in the Johnson City ISD were notified March 2, 2018, that the district was contacted by Blanco County Sheriff’s Department regarding an active investigation of individuals soliciting inappropriate photos from students through the social networking app Snapchat. Blanco County Commissioners held court on Tuesday and approved several items that have been an ongoing discussion through several meetings. The votes are counted in Blanco County and the Precinct 2 Commissioner Race is scheduled to go to a runoff election on May 22 between candidates Lance Odiorne and Emil Ray Uecker. Tuesday March 6, the City Council of Johnson City held their regular monthly meeting at City Hall. The main agenda concern came from citizens who feel speeding and traffic on Main St. is reaching dangerous levels. The Blanco-Pedernales Groundwater Conservation District held its monthly meeting Feb. 22, 2018, General manager Ron Fieseler presented the district’s annual report. Discussion turned to the three monitored wells in the northern end of the county, the District well near the conservation building, Stone Ridge well and the Verizon substation well. Two of these wells are on the Ellenberger Aquifer, while the other is on the San Saba Formation.
This year Blanco County voters not only have a choice on what to vote for but also how they fill out their ballot. This is the second election which utilizes the recently purchased ballot computers. The first being the constitutional amendment election last year. Voters may now choose whether they want to fill out a ballot by hand or by computer. “They asked me if I wanted to do it the old way or the new way,” said one Blanco County voter Tuesday after casting their vote.
