Four women will be vying for two seats up for re-election on the Johnson City Independent School District Board of Trustees. Two places, six and seven, are the trustee positions up for election on May 2.
Cristol Carbary Corpus, the incumbent at Place 7, Sarah Allen, Carlette R. Lewis and Amy Spellmann are the candidates running during the at-large election.
The school board consists of seven members who serve staggered three-year terms, according to the JCISD website.
The Johnson City Volunteer Fire Department held a regular meeting on Wednesday, February 26. President Ray Bible called the meeting to order at 6 p.m. and a quorum was established.

Johnson City Library Friends are pleased to host a Silent Auction during the upcoming Dessert and Bingo Extravaganza. The Extravaganza, sponsored by the Johnson City Woman’s Civic Club, is happening on Saturday, March 7, at the Activities Center of First United Methodist Church. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for delicious desserts, Bingo with prizes, and bidding on a diverse selection of silent auction items.
The Texas Regional Bank celebrated a new branch location here in Johnson City with a ribbon cutting ceremony and shrimp boil on Thursday, February 27, with the Johnson City Chamber of Commerce. The bank is located at 206 E. Main Street, and has a drive-up window and drive-up ATM.
The Blanco County Community Resource Center, located in Johnson City, celebrated a grand opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, February 28, with the Johnson City Chamber of Commerce. The center has offices for many local non-profit organizations, the Johnson City Christian Food Pantry, and meeting spaces availible. The CRC is located at 206 S.
While the City of Johnson City said it is making headway on the completion of four fiscal years of financial audits, some residents continue to express concern about the issue.
One year of audits should be completed by the city council meeting in March, followed by the remaining years at a rate of about one a month, Johnson City Chief Administrative Officer Anthony Holland told the Record Courier last week.

The Pearl celebrated the end of an extensive renovation with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, February 20, 2020, with the Johnson City Chamber of Commerce. The historic hotel was built by James Polk Johnson and named after one of his daughters. Now an event and accommodation space available for rent, the hotel is outfitted with eight bedrooms and three bathrooms, a dining area, kitchen, courtyard and more.
If it’s Lent, it’s time for Johnson City to fill the truck again with donated clothing to go to survivors of disasters that haven’t happened yet.
But we know they will happen.
Every spring there’s a tornado or flood or other catastrophe somewhere in Texas whose survivors need fresh clothing so they can get to work cleaning up what’s left of their homes.
Ken Chute & Sheryl Wilson of Johnson City received their BaccaLOOPerate degree from America’s Great Loop Cruisers’ Association (AGLCA). The degree is given in recognition of completing one of the world’s most unique adventures, America’s Great Loop. Boaters doing the Great Loop are on a 6,000-mile journey that circumnavigates the eastern part of the U.S.
Army Pvt. Jonathan Mendiola graduated from basic military training at Fort Sill in Lawton, Oklahoma on February 20, 2020. Mendiola is the son of Marisela Trejo. He is a 2019 graduate of LBJ High School in Johnson City. He is currently completing AIT at Fort Lee in Prince George County, Virginia.
