The Johnson City Volunteer Fire Department held a regular meeting on March 25. President Ray Bible called the meeting to order at 6:08 p.m. and a quorum was established. Bible said that the Fundraiser account balance will be lower after checks are cut. The Blanco County Commissioners on Monday named a member of the county’s emergency management board as local health authority. The commissioners appointed Dr. Craig Manifold to the position of local health authority. Manifold said that he is simply volunteering to serve the community and has no political intentions with the position. He has been on the emergency management board about five years, and he is a board certified emergency physician.

But we are still here trying to stay connected to the community in new ways. We are offering curb-side pickup for reserved books every Tuesday from 5 to 6 p.m.
By Tricia Hartmann ESD President David O’Bannon called the regular meeting of the ESD to order on March 16 at 7:05 p.m. All members were present and the minutes of the previous meeting were approved with motion from Vice President Brandt Rayburn and second from Board member Kirk McIlhinney; the motion carried.

When Ed Peter built a large wooden dancehall behind his saloon and restaurant in Fredericksburg, it quickly became an important part of community life. Peter’s Hall was a gathering place for people of all ages and an amusement center unlike any other. In 1903 Ed Peter and Herman Mosel opened a saloon and restaurant in a stone building on the corner of Main and Orange Streets.
COVID-19 Changes Pace of Life in Blanco County
By Rachel Lumpee The Blanco Commissioners Court special meeting was called to order at 9 a.m. by Judge Brett Bray on Tuesday, March 24. A live stream was available because no more than 10 people can gather at this time. The commissioners and the judge practiced social separation and had six feet between them. There was one person signed up for public comments, however, the individual was not present.
COVID-19 Changes Pace of Life in Blanco County
JCISD Trustees held a Special Meeting at 12:30 p.m. on March 23. Board President Shelly Wenmohs called the meeting to order and a quorum was established. Superintendent Richard Kolek gave the Superintendent’s Report with updates on School Closure: Coronavirus (COVID-19). Kolek reported, “Based on the information that we have, schools are closed until April 3.
The City of Johnson City released the first of three delinquent financial audits at a meeting earlier this month, while the accountant who prepared the audit criticized the city’s accounting practices.  The audit for the year ending Sept. 30, 2016 was accepted by the city council on March 17 but the audit has not yet been posted to the city’s website as of Tuesday, March 24.
As JCISD teachers prepared to support their students with the rollout of the JCISD Home Learning Center, those with coaching responsibilities were tasked with the additional challenge of keeping the athletes “game-ready” during the current moratorium on practices and contests. “We sent a workout via our Remind app that can be done at home,” said JCISD Athletic Director David T.
