The Former Texas Rangers Foundation are hosting a tribute to the German Pioneers of the Texas Hill Country and their descendants by featuring the North American Premiere of the German film, “Herman der Apache” - The life of Herman Lehmann and Esther Lehmann’s oral testimony. Herman Lehmann, born in 1859 near Mason, Texas to German immigrants, was captured as a child by Native Americans.

Small and delicate, and clearly out of place, it sat nestled between two larger stones. Arrowhead! It probably hid in plain sight there for hundreds of years. Few things spark the imagination, and dozens of questions, like finding a real arrowhead! Who left it – how old is it – which tribe lived and hunted around here? Those and many other answers may be found at the Hill Country Indian Artifact Show, to be held on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at the Lady Bird Johnson Park (Pioneer Pavilion).

The West has long symbolized the romance of the American Frontier, embodying the pioneer spirit and trail-blazing ingenuity. This idea drove a small group of women to form an organization to promote art made by women in a traditionally male dominated field. Women Artists of the West was born in California in 1971 and is currently the oldest women’s juried art organization in the country.
Spring Branch, Texas--- St. Joseph will be hosting the over 50th annual Honeycreek Festival, Sunday, October 9, 2016 from 10 am – 5 pm. Traditionally the festival has been held on Labor Day weekend but the date has been moved to enjoy festivities in the cooler weather. The origins of the event began as an annual parish gathering and homecoming for the local German heritage Hill Country settlers.
