The district assignments are set for the next two school years.
The University Interscholastic League made its biennial district announcements Monday for the 2020-21 and 2021-22 school years. For football, Blanco will be in Class 3A’s District 13, which is part of Region 4. Blanco will play in Class 3A, Division 1 for football, which is the larger of the two divisions in each classification.
The Lady Panther basketball team came from behind to tie the game 35-35 in regulation and win 40-37 in overtime against the Lago Vista Lady Vikings Friday, Jan. 31.
The first quarter was rough going for Blanco with Lago Vista leading 13-5 at the buzzer. The Panthers never gave up. Even though, at times, shots wouldn’t fall, they chipped away at the Vikings’ lead to end the half trailing by four, at 18-14.
The Panther basketball team defeated the Lago Vista Vikings 58-55 Friday, Jan. 31 to put Blanco at the top of the District 25-3A standings with a 10-1 district record.
Blanco lost to the Vikings in the first round of district play, 76-58, on Dec. 20. The Panthers are 23-7 on the season.
Kyle Gray, a 2015 graduate of Blanco High School, held a baseball clinic Saturday, Jan. 25 and Sunday, Jan. 26. Following outstanding baseball careers with the Blanco Panthers and the West Virginia Mountaineers, Gray was drafted by the New York Yankees in June of 2018.
For the second year during his break from playing baseball, Gray ran a clinic to give back to the community, with the proceeds from the clinic donated to the Blanco baseball program.

The Panther basketball team chalked up two more district wins this past week with a 65-44 victory against the Austin Achieve Northeast Polar Bears Friday, Jan. 24 and a 65-47 win over the Georgetown Gateway Gators Tuesday, Jan. 21. The Panthers’ overall record is 21-7 and their district record is 8-1.
At the end of the first quarter against Achieve, the Panthers were behind 12-4.
The Lady Panther basketball team won a district game 51-13 against the Austin Achieve Northeast Lady Polar Bears Friday, Jan. 24. In a non-district game Tuesday, Jan. 21, the Panthers defeated the Cole Lady Cougars 53-44. Blanco holds a 20-6 season record and a 6-1 district record. Jarrell is undefeated in district.
The Lady Panther powerlifting team competed at a meet at the Texas Strength Systems gym in San Antonio Thursday, Jan. 23.
Kiley Elrod won a third place medal in her division with a total lift of 670 pounds. The total is the combination of the lifters highest lift in squat, bench press and deadlift.
The Panther powerlifting team competed in their first meets of the season at Texas Strength Systems in San Antonio Thursday, Jan. 16 and Friday, Jan. 17. Participants perform three lifts including squat, bench press and deadlift, with their best lift in each category added together for a total score.
On Thursday, Christian Flores won first place in his weight class with a total of 1,275 pounds on all three lifts.
The Lady Panther basketball team defeated the Manor New Tech Lady Titans 71-25 Tuesday, Jan. 14. The Panthers led 38-9 at the halftime intermission. Blanco improves to 18-6 on the season and 5-1 in District 25-3A.
Presley Young led the team with 34 points, eight rebounds, six assists and 14 steals.
