Photographers, it’s that time again. The DeWitt County Shutterbugs invite you to enter their annual Photography Contest/Exhibition. The contest is open to all ages, and levels. Photos can be taken with camera, phone, or tablet. Entrants do not have to be residents of DeWitt County. Over $1300 in prize money will be awarded in both the adult and youth divisions.

Property taxes on small acreages can now be lowered by keeping bees on the property. Texas law allows bees and bee hives to qualify for reducing property taxes on plots ranging from 5 to 20 acres similar to livestock or raising hay. Dennis Herbert drafted the original legislation for the current bee law that allows small acreage land owners to receive their agricultural valuation if they wish to raise bees on their property.

HCA will be at Real Ale Brewing Company for a fun day full of friends, fundraising, and Hill Country beer. This year, Real Ale Brewing Company is partnering with the Hill Country Alliance and Blanco County Friends of the Night Sky on two special projects: a permanent Night Sky Quality Meter at the brewery and a single batch of their Full Moon Pale Rye Ale! Night Sky Quality Meters are nifty devices that measure the darkness of the night sky.
The event is part of Kuhlman’s Vina Vita University wine education series.

Stonewall, Texas – January 3, 2020 – Kuhlman Cellars will host a Vina Vita University vine pruning class on January 26, 2020 from 11 am – 1 pm. Students will learn about the labor-intensive winegrowing process in both the classroom and the vineyard.
