While Hurricane Florence was lashing the Carolinas, we here in Texas were dealing with a subtropical system that had moved in from the Gulf of Mexico on Thursday. By game time on Friday night, with both sides of the stadium full of fans, everyone nervously eyed the large thunderheads moving toward Mason from the southeast.

The Mason ISD Flu shot clinic will be on Friday, Oct. 5th from 9-12 and 1-3 p.m. at school.
Flu shot forms will NOT be mailed out. If you want your child to receive the flu vaccine, you can pick up the forms at the offices or print them off from our school website.
Permission slips are due by Friday, September 28th.
The Mason ISD Mentor Program is under new leadership. Shayne Smith recently assumed this role and will be teaming up with Julie Armstrong, Elementary and JH Counselor. Shayne has been an active participant in the program for the past seven years.
The mentor program has been a large influence in the lives of many students over the last 20 years.
On Friday, the Punchers welcomed the Johnson City Eagles to town for their first home game of the 2018 season. Though only the second game of the season for Mason, the Punchers showed that they are a team with ambition and strength for the rest of the year.
The Eagles received the opening kickoff; but, their possession didn't allow them to make any significant push down field.
AUSTIN, TX — The University Interscholastic League honored Mason High School on Friday, September 7 for its 2018 Conference 2A UIL Lone Star Cup victory. The UIL Lone Star Cup trophy presentation took place during pregame of Mason’s varsity football game against Johnson City at R. Clinton Schulze Stadium, which began at 7:30 p.m.
“The UIL Lone Star Cup rewards the best overall academic, athletic and music programs in the state of Texas,” said UIL Executive Director Dr.
The White team played their second home game in a row as the Cross Plains Buffaloes came to the Puncherdome.
The Punchers had control of the game from the very beginning as they jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter. After tacking on another touchdown before half, Mason led 20-0.
The Punchers put together another well executed second half and pitched their first shut out of the year winning 36-0.
Offensive standouts included Tate Spencer and Jaden Scantlin.
The Board of Trustees of MISD met for their regular meeting on August 27, 2018 at the School Administration Office. Board President Jeff Durst called the meeting to order at 6:00 pm with members Jim Bob Smith, Julio Ramon, Tina Cantu-Navarro, Ryan Jordan, Treg Hudson and Kathryn Martin in attendance.
At Friday night's matchup against the Wall Hawks, the stands were filled with football fans from all over West Texas. They had heard about "the Game of the Week," and they wanted to be in attendance. They were not disappointed.
This season opener for both teams had some expected rough spots; but, the game was a display of two great teams performing at their early-season best.
During the first quarter, neither team was able to make a dent in the defenses of their opponents.
