Editor: I am writing this letter to let the voters of Precinct 3, Mason County, know that I will not be running for re-election for Commissioner of Precinct 3 next year. I have been extremely fortunate to have served as a Mason County Commissioner and at the completion of my term on December 31, 2016, I will have been in office for 16 years.

The final regular season game of 2015 turned out to be the toughest yet for the Mason Punchers. They welcomed the Eagles to town on Friday night, and it proved to be a hard fought game that tested both teams. The Punchers and the Eagles fought all during the first quarter and it would not be until late in the period that Seth Hudson finally broke free and flew over the goal line after a 24-yard run.
Mason ISD is proud that we will be able to offer our traditional Thanksgiving lunch this year. Due to production problems in the turkey industry, many school districts will not be able to have a traditional Thanksgiving lunch. We are one of 10 schools in TEXAS that has been able to secure diced turkey and gravy for our Thanksgiving lunch!
Cynthia "Cindy" Ann Hill, age 62, of Huron Park, Ontario, Canada and formerly of Brady, Texas, passed away Sunday, October 25, 2015, in Exeter, Ontario, Canada. She was born October 17, 1953 in San Angelo, Texas to Manford Underwood and Betty Jean (Capps) Underwood. She graduated from Desoto High School in 1972.
Laura Lee Henderson-George passed away unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at the age of 57. Laura Lee is survived by her husband, Bill George of Castell, TX; Her mother, Carolyn Nelson of San Antonio, TX; Her father and step-mother, Mr. William and Dr. Edna Henderson of Denver, Colorado; Her sons, Christopher Conrad of Uvalde, TX and Brad Henderson of San Antonio, TX; and her brother, Keller Henderson of San Antonio, TX.
Ruby Lenora Behrens, 89, of Austin, passed away October 29, 2015. She was born to Francis L. Paisley and Daisy Mae (Kibler) Paisley on February 7, 1926, in Chicago, Illinois. Mrs. Behrens grew up as a Church of Christ minister's daughter. The family moved frequently in her formative years contributing to the family's ministry.
Mark Hierholzer will be presenting a concert of free improvisation on the piano at Hill Country Evangelical Free Church, 107 East Lower Crabapple in Fredericksburg at 3 PM on Sunday, November 8. Hierholzer is director of the Fredericksburg Chorale and the German Choirs. He performs his compositions and improvisations regularly in Fredericksburg and surrounding areas.
The filing period for the March 1, 2016 Republican Primary is approaching. It is important to note that the filing period is shorter this year. Filing begins Saturday November 14, 2015 and runs through Monday December 14, 2015. Candidates who are interested in running for an office in Mason County must be a Texas resident for one year for most offices, lived in Mason County or precinct for 6 months, must be a United States citizen, and a registered voter.
On Thursday, October 29th, forty members of the Running R Travel visited Mason from the Austin area. Dorothy Martin organized the day trip which started at Country Collectibles, looking at the largest cut topaz. From there, they visited the Mason Square Museum where they saw the largest uncut topaz.
