Shelly Perkins, Parliamentarian of the Heart of Texas Chapter of the DRT, recently attended the annual meeting of District IX of the DRT in La Porte, Texas. Three former Punchers celebrate their victory with a thrilling 29-26 win over 3rd ranked Mary Hardin Baylor. In doing so they snapped a 61 game winning streak by the Cru. Korey Zavala came up huge for the Cowboys and was selected as ASC defensive player of the week and had 14 tackles, 3 tackles for loss and one amazing critical sack to secure a win for the Cowboys.
Twenty six Riata members met at the Stribling Room on Oct 27. Hostesses were Laura Tallent and Julie Gamel. Laura Tallent introduced the guest speaker, Mary Alice Rodriquez who demonstrated the art of decorating cookies for special occasions. Members sampled her beautiful and delicious cookies. Susan Cole was welcomed as a new member.

Andrew Awalt is back by popular demand to host another Photography Workshop for the Fine Arts Association of the Hill Country. This workshop is open to the Public. The hours will be 10 AM to 3 PM on Saturday, Nov. 14th, in the Stribling Room at the Mason County Library.

Every year a handful of Texas teenagers die suddenly due to sudden cardiac arrest that can be caused by a rhythm disorder or hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. The latter, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, is a rare congenital heart condition that causes part of the heart muscle to stiffen, trapping blood in the heart and producing an abnormal cardiac rhythm.
To catch this potentially fatal condition, will host a SCORE screening on Mon., Nov.

7th and 8th grade played extremely well. Lots of great effort were shown on both sides of the ball, even special teams had some highlights.
7th grade won 28-0 while 8th grade won 34-8. Both teams have improved tremendously throughout the season, as we wind down for one last game these kids are exactly where they need to be.
The Mason County Commissioners' Court met in a special session on Thursday, October 29th. With only a few items on the agenda, they quickly set to work on tackling the business at hand.
