Water seems to be a major theme of several different conversations around the City office in the past week. On Saturday there was a major water leak on the east side of town that the water crew worked hard to get repaired. Texas weather continues to demonstrate its changeability, yesterday it was hot at 99 and this morning it is again fall at 65 degrees with even lower temperatures expected overnight. It will be warm again in a few days, but one thing that I notice on the forecast is that there is not much chance for rain in the next week or two.
The recent grass fires and the severe drought have caused our local volunteer fire departments to have severe shortages of some of their essential supplies. Normally the volunteer fire departments hold fund raisers to cover the costs of their daily supplies but the corona flu outbreak has put their fund raising events on hold. The 2020 Coronation Event will be quite different this year, due to guidelines and limitations associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. We want to honor this long-held Mason tradition, as well as recognize our wonderful young people!
