The Mason ISD faculty and staff began the 2016-17 school year on August 15th with a week of training. Monday was a great first day back where a professional development rotation was held in the new Mason Junior High wing. There were eight breakout sessions to inform the staff in a way that was efficient, informative and enjoyable.
Mason County 4-H Shooting Sports competed in the State 4-H shooting competition at the Austin Rifle Club in Manor, TX on July 11-15, 2016. Six 4-H members competed. Results for the members were:

It is only $65.00 to participate for the whole season. ****Cost includes your cheerleading uniform and cheer practices that are held on Tuesdays at 6 p.m. For individual pieces of the cheerleading uniform you do not need to purchase, we will lower your cost. MASON, TEXAS- The Antique Pickers Back Roads Tour will be conducting a special event Thursday & Friday August 4th & 5th. The event will be held at the M. Beven Eckert Memorial Library from 9 a.m. TO 5 p.m. Admission is free and no appointment is needed.
During this event local area residents are invited to bring in their antiques, collectibles, old coins, gold jewelry, broken jewelry, sterling silver and more.
The 2016/2017 Band Calendars will arrive this week and will be available for pickup starting Monday, August 8th at Benji’s Books and Gifts. They can also be picked up at the first Puncher scrimmage on Saturday, August 13th.
Don’t forget to mark your calendar for the next Band Boosters meeting on September 6th at 6:00 in the band hall.
The Mason Community Foundation would like to remind local non-profit groups that the deadline is just a few weeks away to apply for the next cycle of grants! Those organizations with worthy projects which benefit the citizens of Mason County are encouraged to apply. It’s that time again! The first day of school is Monday, August 22nd! Parents of Mason High School students should receive a packet in the mail during the first week of August, which includes high school registration information and necessary forms to be completed and returned to school on the day of registration.
