Over the course of three days of UIL Academic competition in Mason (December 2,7) and Center Point on December 8, 2016, Mason Junior High students amassed many individual and team medals. After all points were totalled, San Saba place first, Mason second and Junction third. Teachers are extremely proud of these students for carving out time to attend practices during lunch, before-school (7th & 8th grades) and after-school(6th grade).
The 2016 Puncher football season came to a close on Friday night in San Marcos. The Refugio Bobcats, a perennial rival, will move on ahead to the semifinals while the Punchers move on with their other activities.
The Punchers did not make it an easy win for Refugio. Mason had 158 yards for the night to Refugio's 300.

The District 7 Livestock Judging Contest took place on Wednesday, November 30 in San Angelo, TX. Aspen Martin of Mason County won First High Individual Overall. She and John Benefield competed in the Senior Division as individuals. There were 43 individual competitors in all. Mason took the regional championship on Friday night by defeating the Normangee Panthers, 55-18, in a game played at the Pflugerville Stadium.
The Punchers took the ball on the opening kickoff (and an odd onside kick attempt by Normangee), and on the second play of the game, Haddon Hudson put the first points on the board with a 42-yard touchdown.
Alpha Beta Psi will be hosting its annual Light Up Our Town this Saturday. Santa will be arriving at 4 p.m. He will be arriving at The Odeon Theater, so parents bring your cameras.

Friday night's meeting between the Mason Punchers and the Shiner Comanches displayed the kind of football that fans should expect in a playoff game.
The first quarter had been toe-to-toe, each team exploring the other and trying to find any weaknesses that could be exploited. Neither would find any opportunity to score during the first period.

On Friday, October 7, Mason High School hosted its annual College and Career Day, sponsored by the Career and Technology Department and Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA).
