The JC squad went 3-3 for the weekend , with losses to TAPPS 4A John Paul Catholic, UIL 4A Fredericksburg and eventual tournament champion 4A Argyle.
The Friday morning scrimmage, the first of two permitted by the University Interscholastic League for football teams each season, proved to be a showcase for the defenses of the JC Eagles and the visiting Sonora Broncos. A last-minute schedule change gave JC fans the welcomed opportunity to cheer the 2021 Eagles from the home stands rather than making a road trip to Stockdale.
Forty-plus campers took part in the Eagle Nation Football Camp hosted by Head Coach David T Sine and his staff the week prior to kicking off the LBJHS Eagle Football season. Coaches put campers through the paces in individual fundamentals and added a healthy dose of Eagle Nation philosophy to build the foundation for a championship football program.
Team members Meredith Stewart, Elizabeth Probst, Braden Peiser and Anne White joined LBJ Middle School student Briley Sralla in setting a new National Team Score record at the Junior Olympic Three-Position Air Rifle (3PAR) Championship in Anniston, Alabama. Sralla earned the Bronze medal as an individual in the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) 3PAR contest held concurrent with the Junior Olympics.

Fans can also enjoy a meal of fried fish, French fries, hushpuppies, slaw and a drink by making a donation to the Eagle Athletic Boosters. Serving will begin at 5:30 p.m. at the Eagle Field concession stand with curbside pick-up available. The Eagle Football squad will be on the field finishing up their afternoon workout.
Eagle junior Cade Boyer added to the list of accolades earned in a standout Sophomore season with the recent release of the 2021 All-State Baseball Teams by the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association and the Texas Sports Writers Association. Both organizations included Boyer as a second team selection. The pitcher/slugger helped power the Eagles to a third place finish and state playoff berth in District 29-2A this spring.
After a one year hiatus due to COVID-19, the Lone Star Hoops Camp returned to Johnson City last week with a record turn-out of more than 70 campers. Bringing a wealth of basketball experience to the young campers were long-time Lake Travis coach Jan Jernberg, Tim Kaman, of Fredericksburg and John Allen, of Marion.
Lady Eagles finish season as World Series Runner-Up In a memory-filled season that extended from the youth fields in Johnson City to the Pony 14U South Zone World Series in Youngsville, Louisiana the Johnson City Lady Eagles 14-and-Under All-Stars closed out their Championship run with a heartbreaking 12-11 loss in the finals to the Round Rock Fury.
Every time I sit down at my desk at Johnson City High School, a certain picture stares right back at me, I smile back and go to work. The pic was taken twelve years ago and it’s Walker T. Sine’s first ever touchdown. I remember it like it was yesterday, except it wasn’t.
Head Coach David T. Sine is excited about the upcoming football season, as well as the Johnson City Eagles Football Camp, which will be held July 26-28 at Eagle Field. Camp times are set from 9 am to noon each day. The cost is $50 for the three day camp.
