Lady Eagles sweep district
A forfeit by Medina in their final District 27-2A match on Friday didn’t keep the Lady Eagles off the court. Coach Heather Wilson made the most of the opportunity with an inter-squad scrimmage and a celebration of the three Seniors making their last regular season appearance in the LBJHS Gym.
The Eagle JV fought hard in back-to-back victories to raise their season record to 4-2; 1-0 in district. On October 15 JC defeated the  Punchers 14-10 in a nail-biter that wasn’t decided until the final possession. The Eagles led for three quarters fueled by the successful keeper by Quarterback McCray Jacobs; however, the Punchers took the lead early in the fourth quarter when a bad snap went through the end-zone to give them the 10-8 lead.
The two games remaining in district for Johnson City will determine the football play-off representatives for 14-2A and the Eagles intend to come out on top. This Friday’s match-up between JC and the Harper Longhorns is the first meeting of the two teams since 2015 and the Longhorns first visit to Eagle Field.  Coming off of a forfeit by Center Point the Eagles (3-5; 2-1) have had extra time to prepare for Friday’s contest against the Longhorns (2-6; 1-2).
The Mason Punchers came to Eagle Field Friday night intent on keeping a piece of the lead in  District 14-2A and rolled to a 55-6 victory against the Eagles. The loss cut the JC winning streak short as they dropped to 1-1 in District and 2-5 for the season. The Puncher defense shut down the Eagle ground game holding them to 29 total yards rushing.
After cruising through 9 matches in District 27-2A without dropping a set the Varsity Lady Eagles got a wake-up call from the Cornerstone Lady Warriors in a non-district match on Monday that lasted just three sets with a final score that did not reflect the level of play the Lady Eagles proved they are capable of when challenged.

Sophomore Lydia battled a strong field to an 8th place finish with a time of 12:58.10 in the 2-mile course. Freshman Claire was close at her heels finishing 9th in 13:03.8.
A week of rest following their final warm-up at Goldthwaite has the Eagle and Lady Eagle Cross Country teams in top condition to take on the hills in San Saba on Monday at the District Championships. Details on the meet schedule were still unavailable at press time, but the day at the San Saba River Golf Course will feature the High School Boys’ Division 5K and the High Schools Girls, Middle School Boys and Middle School Girls in the 2-mile.  Lydia White placed second and Claire White th ...
By Julie Storer The Varsity Lady Eagles (15-6, 8-0) continued to dominate District 27-2A with two three-set victories extending their streak to twenty-four sets, eight matches without a loss. At home last Tuesday Center Point was no match for the Lady Eagles behind the powerful net play of Paige Dalland and Ivy Swafford with nine kills each.
By Julie Storer The Eagle Varsity shook off the effects of the three-plus hour drive to Brackettville on Friday and rolled to a decisive 25-8 victory against the Tigers. The Eagle offense struggled early, but warmed up to turn in their best performance of the season. Cade Boyer threw for three touchdowns and reeled in an end zone toss from Ryan Shipley for his fourth score of the night.
