The Blanco High School Panther band competed at the Region 12 University Interscholastic League Concert and Sight Reading Contest on Friday, March 9, 2018, in a competition held at the Canyon Lake High School fine arts auditorium. In order to receive the Sweepstakes award, a band must make a Division I in all three areas; marching, concert and sight reading.

On Thursday, Feb. 22, the Blanco High School track team hosted their annual Blanco Panther Relays track meet. Due to the weather there were no field events. Wimberley High School placed first with 127 points, and San Antonio Cole High School placed second with 102 points. The Blanco Panther Varsity Girls placed third with 97 points.

On Tuesday, Feb. 20 Blanco defeated the Brooks Academy Bengals, 81-61, for the Bi District title in a game played at New Braunfels High School. The Panthers led 17-13 at the end of the first quarter. Blanco had an impressive statistic as a team, scoring more points each quarter of the game with the 17 in the first followed by 19, 20, and 25.
BES fourth-graders will present “Musical Finesse in Action!” at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27, in the BISD auditorium inside the central office building.
The concert will feature the students singing, playing musical instruments and dancing, as well as sharing some of the artwork they’ve completed during the year.

Suarez won consolation singles defeating Turner of Fredericksburg, 8-0. Kirkland and Manriquez beat Claussen and Licardello to win 3rd place in girl’s doubles.
The Panther basketball team captured the District Championship with an undefeated 12-0 record. The final hurdle was a home game against the Florence Buffalo on Tuesday, Feb. 13. Despite some contentious moments with technical and loud fans, the Panthers kept their focus, winning the game 74-58.
Junior Eddie Calzoncit led the team with 24 points, with 80% shooting from the two-point range.
