The Blanco Basketball Camp was held Monday, June 4 through Wednesday, June 6. More than 60 students participated in the camp. Awards were given on the last day of camp. Blanco Middle School, they hosted the annual Battle of the Best. Where every year the staff and students face off in a series of events to win points. The staff somehow always wins every year until this year. The students managed to gain to lead and beat the staff. This was the perfect way to end the school year for the Blanco Middle School students.
Scholarship Winners
On Thursday evening May 17th, at the Blanco High School, members of the Blanco Chapter #934, Order of the Eastern Star were privileged to award three (3) $500.00 Scholarships to 3 deserving Blanco Seniors. Those receiving the Martha Moore Bates Memorial Scholarships were Savannah French, Madison Knesse and Sarai Godinez (not pictured.) The 2018 Project Graduation event was held at Incredible Pizza in San Antonio. Following the Graduation ceremony, members of the class of 2018 boarded busses for the overnight celebration where they enjoyed a pizza buffet, games, rides and prizes. Chapter Scholarships
The Highland Lakes Texas Exes Chapter hosted a reception Thursday, May 24th at Numinous Coffee Roasters for scholarship recipients. The Chapter is awarding $8000 in scholarships to the University of Texas at Austin this year. The Chapter’s Scholarship Committee, under the direction of Chair Teresa Becker, selected eight local high school graduates and one local UT at Austin sophomore. Panthers Post Shut-Out Win Over Natalia
The Panther baseball team won their Bi-District playoff game defeating the Natalia Mustangs 11-0 in a run-rule, shut out on Saturday, May 5 at Marion High School. In the first inning Jackson Hunter got the Panthers started with a single and a stolen base. Eddie Calzoncit nailed a triple to bring Hunter home.
