A piece of the old west is coming to Blanco this weekend.
The annual Pine Moore Days will be held Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 25-27, at the Buggy Barn Museum at 1915 Main Street. The three-day event is full of wild west fun with entertainment, knife and tomahawk throwing, music, food, vendors and more.
Throwers from all over the state, and even some from out of state, will join in for the world championship mounted knife and tomahawk throwing competition.
State representative Erin Zwiener wasn’t happy with how House Bill 3 impacted school districts in Blanco County.

Blanco ISD will soon have extra help dealing with truancy.
The school district board of trustees voted unanimously to accept a grant Monday night to fund a truancy officer/attendance specialist.
The part-time position will help principals deal with excess absenteeism and hopefully help curtail them, said BISD Superintendent Clay Rosenbaum.
While overall absenteeism isn’t a large problem, Rosenbaum said the school district has an issue with chronic absenteeism among several students.

Mayor Martha Herden called the regular city council meeting to order at 6 p.m. on Oct. 8. Roll call took place with Mayor Pro Tem Martin Sauceda, Council member Matt Lewis, Council member Keith McClellan and Councilmember Martha Gosnell present; Council member Tony Vela was absent with an excuse.
Mayor Herden gave a presentation of appreciation and explained the resolution for EMS/Fire Appreciation.
