The Blanco County man wanted for an alleged sexual assault who had been on the run for two days was taken into custody late Thursday in San Antonio. The Blanco County Sheriff’s Office stated that Timothy Wade Foth, 37, surrendered without incident to deputies Capt. Ben Ablon and Sgt. Adam Acosta at about 9:30 p.m.
A man was arrested in Blanco late last month after he allegedly was involved in a domestic assault that started in Johnson City. According to information from the Johnson City Police Department, Clifford Brown Jr. is facing various felony charges, including burglary, aggravated kidnapping and attempted murder. Bond was set at $185,000. Johnson City police reports stated that at 5:55 p.m.
The transition from high school to college athletics can be very challenging. A Kingsland man was killed in a three-vehicle accident on Highway 281 north of Blanco on Wednesday evening, July 27. According to published reports, Clifton Vancura, 50, was killed in the 6:15 p.m. crash about four miles north of Blanco. Texas Department of Public Safety personnel said Vancura was driving a SUV north on Highway 281 when he crossed the center line and sideswiped a semitrailer that was southbound on the highway. Excitement still is buzzing both locally and across the country nearly five months after country music artist Jon Pardi filmed a music video at the Twin Sisters Dance Hall south of Blanco. Pardi, 31, filmed the video for “Head Over Boots” at the old dance hall, which was constructed in the 1870s, on March 2.
   During the July 12 meeting of the Blanco City Council, members approved the request for rezoning of a 2-acre tract on Highway 281, formerly owned by Sam-Mar Realty, from mixed commercial/residential to industrial use.    The Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously had voted to recommend the rezoning during one of its earlier meetings. Owner Marsha Milam plans to open a craft distillery that will produce whiskey, bourbon and vodka.

The bond reduction request for the Blanco woman facing two counts of injury to a child by omission was denied last week. Llano-Burnet-Blanco District Attorney Sonny McAffee said this week that a judge on Friday denied the request for Jamie Petronella, 23, whose attorney argued that she did not pose a threat to the community and is not considered a flight risk. Pedernales Electric Cooperative voters re-elected District 5 Board Director James Oakley and elected Jim Powers, who ran unopposed, to serve as the new District 4 Director. Powers replaces former Director Chris Perry, who did not seek re-election. Voters also approved an amendment affirming members the right to speak at any open meeting of the Board of Directors.
The capstone event of the City’s Spring/Summer 2016 Arts in the Park series will take place this Sunday evening on the Old Courthouse Square. The fabulous ”Little Beverly and the Shades,” a group of ‘silver hairs’ who play old-time 1950s and 60s music, will play and entertain at a street dance beginning at 6 p.m.
