The City of Blanco held a City Council, School Board, and a bond election that concluded when the polls closed at 7:00 Saturday, May 7.
Five candidates, Martha Gosnell, Tony Vela, Matt Lewis, Martin Sauceda, and Amit Patel, were running for three city council seats.
There were 39 early voters in the City Elections and 181 votes on general election day.
A Mother and her boyfriend are accused of injuring her three children , including her one-year-old who died Thursday morning.
Blanco Police responded to a call Tuesday, May 3 on the 500 block of Jones street around 6pm. The call from the couple stated the 1-year-old child was unresponsive.

In the recent race for Blanco City Council, the difference between three candidates was a total of four votes. That vote difference between them meant being elected to the Blanco City Council and being almost elected.
So, the “what if” stories immediately began to circulate. “What if” the child of one candidate had not driven all the way to Blanco from San Antonio solely to cast a ballot for their candidate; then the results would have changed.

The final concert of the Arts in the Park Spring Series in Bindseil Park last Friday evening was a resounding success. Despite the forecast of rain, the skies were clear. A crowd of nearly 200 people enjoyed the Paul Glasse Quartet who put on an outstanding performance of musicianship and great entertainment.
Blanco’s own Lawrence Coffee (the Cowboy Kettle Popcorn Man) was inducted into the Texas Rodeo Cowboy Hall of Fame earlier this month. The Hall of Fame is dedicated to preserving the history and heritage of the Texas Rodeo Cowboy and Cowgirl. Located in the historic Ft. Worth Stockyards, it was founded in 1975 to honor individuals and associations that champion the western lifestyle and support the sport of Rodeo.
Blanco’s Wild Woman Weekend has concluded another very successful weekend event April 8th through 10th and wanted to share the results with our community. Over $45,000 was able to be distributed to five of Blanco’s non-profit organizations that do so much for our community: Blanco Library Inc., Gem of the Hills Seniors Community Center, Friends of Blanco State Park, Old Blanco County Courthouse Preservation Society, and Blanco Volunteer Ambulance Corps as a result of this year’s activitie ...
Early Voting has opened and Election day is May 7 for Blanco citizens. On the ballot there are five people running for three at large city council seats and two running for one school board position.
The City Council Candidates are Martha Gosnell, Matt Lewis, Amit Patel, Martin Sauceda, and Tony Vela.
School Board Candidates are Liza Struck and Juan Vargas.
Tejas Art Club has named Claudia Smith their April Artist of the Month.
Smith, a longtime resident of Blanco, first saw the painting group while she was volunteering at the library. She enjoyed looking at the artwork and was soon encouraged to join.
“Olga (Ibarra) encouraged me and I decided to go and she lent me supplies,” Smith said.
Smith had always been crafty, starting out as a doll collector who also made dolls for her daughters.
Paul Glasse, former U.S. Mandolin National Champion, will complete the Spring Series of concerts in Bindseil Park sponsored by the City of Blanco and the Arts in the Park committee. Paul is a nationally known Mandolinist who has performed with musicians such as Willy Nelson, Lyle Lovett, Alison Krause and many others.
