The Mason County AgriLife Extension Service wishes to thank the community for their continued support of its 4H members and their projects. The Texas AgriLife Extension Service also wishes to thank the many volunteers who committed to work in the 4H Concession Stand, which is the annual 4H fundraiser, and those who stepped-up to volunteer their time and efforts at the Mason County Livestock Show.

High school students in the Central Texas Electric Cooperative service area can now submit an essay to be one of three winners for the 2017 Government-in-Action Youth Tour, an all-expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C., June 7–16.
Essays must be turned in by January 27 for this opportunity that truly is the trip of a lifetime.

Last Friday the JV Purple team traveled to Coleman to take on the Bluecats.
Scoring was low for much of the first half as the score was 25-24 in favor of the Punchers. The game went back and forth for much of the second half until the Punchers were able to pull away late in the fourth quarter.
Mason ISD provides many educational programs to meet the needs of our students. One of the programs offered is the Gifted and Talented Program, which has been planned for young, able learners. High school and college graduations may be months away, but now is the time to starting thinking about applying for scholoarships, according to Shannon Worrell, Mason County Farm Bureau president.
Mason County students are encouraged to apply for more than $100,000 in Farm Bureau college scholarships offered on the local, district and state levels.
“These scholarships and awards are an excellent opportunity for Farm Bureau families to earn money to pursue their dreams,” Worrell said.
Elijah Dickinson, 2014 graduate of Mason High School, has been name to the Scholastic Honors Dean's List at Tarleton State University. This is one of the higher honors that Tarleton confers on their students, and is the university's way of honoring students' academic achievements and recognizing their importance on campus.
