February is here and that means that Mason High School varsity baseball for the Punchers officially returns for the 2022 regular season this month. Mason will open up the season at home at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, February 21 vs. Brady High School. The Punchers will also have non-district games at 5:00 p.m.
Mason Junior High Robotics Won First, Second and Fourth place at the Area 15 Robotics Competition. The top two teams advance on to the state championship in May! Taking first place in robotic inventions- Anna Whitworth, Clancy Osbourn, Kalen Langehennig, and Fisher Bradley. Placing 2nd- Hannah Holbrook, Hannah McFarland and Jaxson Reichenau.
Mason schools showed academic improvement from already very good ratings in the most recent report from the Texas Academic Performance Report, TAPR, said Mason Independent School District (MISD) Superintendent Stan Whittle at Monday night’s school board meeting. Three Mason High School students - juniors Taylor Hardin, Sydney Hardin, and Abbey Wallace - competed at the UIL State Congressional Debate Meet on January 11-12 in Austin. The Mason Independent School District has wide-ranging plans for the $1,239,316, it was awarded as part of the American Rescue Plan Act last year. “We have held numerous public meetings this school year to gather input from stakeholders on the potential use of the needed funds,” said MISD Superintendent, Stan Whittle, in an email on Tuesday.
The Mason High School girls varsity basketball team started off District 29-2A play with a bang as the Cowgirls had two lopsided district victories on the road at Center Point High School and at home vs. Junction High School. Following an absolutely dominating 77-17 win back on Dec. 14 against the Lady Pirates of Center Point, the Cowgirls returned home on Friday night and outplayed the Lady Eagles of Junction the entire game en route to an 85-17 win.
The Mason Jr. High Robotics has qualified six teams to compete in Area 15 Competition. There are three teams competing in the arena event. This requires students to have a 30-second programmed robot that will complete tasks set ahead of competition time. The teams will have to work with other teams to achieve the maximum score.
