AUSTIN, Texas—The Texas Historical Foundation, a 66-year old preservation organization, has announced a grant to the Seaquist House Foundation. THF board member and former Foundation President Tom Doell recently presented the check to SHF representatives Pat Dixon and Nonie Stringer.
This donation is the second one given by THF to assist with the restoration of the 1887 home in Mason.
Mason’s Scarlet Punchers, those intrepid women “of a certain age,” who absolutely enjoy living life to the fullest, had another fabulous get-together in October at the home of Sherie Clarkson. Our small but mighty group easily fit around Sherie’s vintage library table, which held a place of prominence in her newly-completed remodeled kitchen.
On Halloween Night from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, the library will be passing out candy for trick-or-treaters. The foyer will be decorated and we will be in costume (with a literary theme, of course). We will be masked and ready to safely pass out candy. We hope that you will make the library one of your trick-or-treat stops this Halloween!

2nd place —Sherrie Clarkson, Cynthia Bauer, and Minnie Schmidt.
3rd place—Sherrie Patrick; Patsy Brandenberger; Connie Stockbridge; and Amy Herring.
Taffy is a friendly and eager to please cattle dog mix. She can be a little shy at first, but once she feels secure you can see her confidence grow! She has spent most of her life outside but would adapt nicely to an inside home. Our volunteers think she will make a great family companion!
It is time for the 63rd Annual Coronation as the students of Mason High School celebrate this unique year with a Mask-querade Ball. The students will be presented to the community in formal attire, and the Queen and King and their court will be crowned on November 7th at the High School Auditorium.

A topic that appears to be on many readers’ minds is global climate change. Is it real? How serious is it? When will it affect Mason County? How will it affect Mason County? Is there anything we can do about it?
Let’s begin with the fact of global climate change. There is no doubt that the Earth is warming rapidly at present.
I recently had a couple of requests to re-run the “ The Mason Puncher Tavern Burger Recipe” I think that with this being the midst of Fall Football season it brings back memories of those of us that couldn’t wait to get to a “Mason Puncher” home football game to have a “Tavern Burger”.
