Recruiting Underway Nationwide for More Applicants January 7, 2020 – The U.S. Census Bureau is ramping up its national recruiting efforts to hire up to 500,000 temporary, part-time census takers for the 2020 Census in communities across the country to reach its goal of more than 2 million applicants. The positions offer competitive pay, flexible hours, paid training, and weekly paychecks.
Our Veterans organization is in dire need of new members to maintain and fulfill the needs of the U.S and Texas Charter By-laws for VFW Posts. Our fellow veterans of the community and nationwide, many who are receiving benefits, are doing so as a result of actions of Veterans Organizations acting on behalf of each of us.
Students from Mason High School had an especially successful performance at the UIL Congressional Debate State Meet last week in Austin. Megan Canfield, a senior, earned a silver medal for 2nd place, and freshman Sydney Hardin placed 6th overall. Lizzy White, a junior, also qualified as a state finalist. UIL Congress is an event that is comprised of two days of debate, with students following parliamentary procedure to debate on twenty proposed bills.
Have you ever built a snowman and found the next day that his grin has gotten a bit crooked or he stands a little shorter? On Monday, January 27, wonder no more what’s happening while you sleep. Snowmen at Night by Caralyn and Mark Buehner answers all your questions! A winter craft will follow the readaloud. Storytime is held Mondays at 10:30 a.m.
Who doesn’t love spaghetti?! Here’s your chance for a delicious meal for a good cause. Second Chance Mason Animal Rescue invites you to a spaghetti lunch on Sunday, February 2 at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Parish Hall, a fundraiser for the free Spay/Neuter Program for income eligible residents within Mason and Mason County. There is a great need for assistance with spaying and neutering services.
It’s that time of year folks! The Friends of the Library are preparing for our annual Book & Bake Sale to benefit the library. We ask, once again, that you to dig out those wonderful books you’ve read and are now ready to share. We also take donations of DVDs, so dust off those movie boxes you haven’t watched in ages and bring them to us!
Due to the interest in the Republican forum for local candidates scheduled for Thursday January 23 at 7:00 PM, there has been a change of venue. The forum will now be at Eckert Civic Center located at 1024 McKinley Avenue. Originally the forum was to be held at the M.
The 8th annual Puncher Band Auction is this Saturday, January 25th - kick off with the first auction table is live on Lone Star 102.5 at 9:00 a.m. Come by the band hall to view the auction items in person or check us out on the Mighty Mason Puncher Band Facebook page.

Dine in or carry out! Please mark your calendars, and to help you remember, it’s the first Sunday in February.
The MCLWPA will hold its annual meeting Thursday January 16, 2020. The meeting will be in the St. Paul Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall at 5:30. It is crucial that all concerned landowners and citizens of Mason County attend. We will elect officers and directors. Those attending will have the opportunity to determine the dues and bounties for 2020.
