The Mason ISD Education Foundation honored Mason High School students with the presentation of Academic Excellence awards last week. The award recognizes academic achievement. Students receiving the Academic Excellence Award maintained a 3.95 GPA or better for each of the first four six weeks while taking at least four core subjects.
The staff and management of the Community Thrift Store is pleased to announce that we will soon be reopening. On Tuesday, May 26, the day after Memorial Day, we will open at 9:00 in the morning and be open till 2:00 that afternoon. It is expected the store will follow these hours for the next several weeks to allow the staff time to clean and disinfect the store each afternoon to provide a safe and pleasant shopping environment.
It’s graduation time, and we are looking forward to a new kind of celebration! The faculty and administration of Mason High School is well aware that the numbers of persons who have tested positive for COVID-19 continue to grow in our county. We take this situation very seriously, and it has been in the forefront of our minds as we made plans to hold a graduation parade.
It has been a month since we have provided information about Mason County Food Bank activities. During that time we have seen an extraordinarily generous response to the request assistance for the Food Bank. Our citizens have given money, volunteered to purchase and pick up supplies, donated fresh fruits and vegetables, packed boxes and distributed food.
In the past, we have served an average of 65 households during the 3 days we were open a month.
The Mason FFA Chapter, as all our outstanding organizations, was unable to host their 2019-2020 Banquet. This banquet has been an annual event where the current FFA chapter officers prepare a fajita supper and honor all those students competing in various contests throughout the school year. The Texas Farm Bureau (TFB) Youth Leadership Conference will be held virtually this year due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

At the beginning of our reign, we as the Mason County Queens Court selected a philanthropic project. We chose Bluebonnet Casa because we wanted to help make an impact on children in our community. The original plan was to raise funds during the entirety of our year and donate all at the conclusion of our reign in July.
With the current state of our country; and, specifically, our community, many organizations in our area are struggling financially.
