It’s Bubbles’ time to shine! She is about is 4 months old and is a total sweetheart. She recently enjoyed spending some quality time with a couple of our volunteers at the city park where her favorite activity was hanging out for tummy rubs! Bubbles is up to date on her vaccinations and is scheduled to be spayed soon. Second Chance is taking applications for Bubbles.
We have had wonderful rains. Prayers are answered. My yard is so wet that I sink when I walk in the grass. This is an unusual event. We are so thankful for all the rain. I have emptied 3.25 inches since it started raining. It usually is not accurate as it is partially under a giant oak tree. We welcome Fall on September 22.
Mason Young Life has been blessed to be in ministry with Mason high school students for 8 years. As we approach another amazing year of sharing the good news of the Gospel with students, we face a significant financial impact on the ministry due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Out of respect for our struggling families and businesses, we chose to cancel our Spring fundraiser and rely on monthly donors, cash reserves, and “belt tightening” to keep the ministry afloat.
Mason, Texas-October is breast-cancer-awareness month. The Mason Wesley Nurse’s committee has worked together with Frontera Healthcare and Heart of Texas Hospital in Brady to provide free pap smears and mammograms for a limited number of Mason County women 40 years old and above who qualify financially. Single women and those who have one or more children, are within 200% of the Federal poverty guidelines, are uninsured or underinsured are eligible to participate in the application process.
The Hill Country CattleWomen’s regular September meeting will be canceled. They will next meet on October 20, 2020. 10 a.m. Social, 10:30 a.m. meeting, catered box lunch. Haverlah Ranch 17900 CR 310, Cherokee, TX No speaker as awards will be given and everyone will want time to visit! “I am excited to host our October Meeting at our ranch and see everyone again!” shared HCCW member Lindsay Alexander.
Beginning this month, the Mason County Food Bank will be open on the first and third Monday of each month. Hours are 3:00 pm – 5:30 pm and pickup is curbside. Please wear your mask when talking to volunteers. The Food Bank is also delivering food to persons who are ill, disabled or who have no transportation to our site.
Meet two of our newest rescues. Say hi to Buttons (left) and Bubbles (right)! These girls were surrendered to our local pound, and we are happy to be able to rescue them. They have been to the vet for vaccinations and a check up. They are about 4 months old.
Labor Day without a massive cookout for family and friends or a trip to the lake was not the usual celebration. However, as retirees, we don’t celebrate a day not to work like we used to. Ours was a quiet day. We like quiet days. Class meetings continue on Wednesday evenings with soup at 6 and the meeting begins at 6:30.
Fredericksburg, TX (8/14/20)— Hill Country Memorial today announced Jayne Pope, Chief Executive Office was inducted into the Huron | Studer Group 2020 Fire Starter Hall of Fame. The award was presented during the 18th annual What’s Right in Health Care® virtual conference, Aug. 11-12, 2020. “Jayne exemplifies what it means to be a healthcare hero,” said Debbie Ritchie, president of Huron’s Studer Group business.
Hill Country Memorial has been recognized as one of the “best maternity hospitals in the U.S.,” according to Becker’s Hospital Review, receiving Five-Star Ratings for its birthing and delivery care. HCM was one of only eight in Texas on Newsweek’s annual list of best maternity hospitals, that includes 231 hospitals across 36 states.
