The Llano Youth Football and Cheer teams played host to the Burnet Bulldogs this past weekend with the 3rd/4th Grade Junior Varsity Jackets suffering their first loss of the season and the 5th/6th Grade Varsity Jackets recording their fourth win of the season.
Both team’s records now stand at 4-1 on the season as they host the always tough Mason Punchers this upcoming Saturday at Jacket Stadium.
The Llano Junior High teams had another full slate of games as they hosted the Burnet Bulldogs at Jacket Stadium. All four of the games were close with each game decided by less than a touchdown.
The Daubers now have an open week before battling the Navarro Panthers in their first district game of the season on Thursday, Oct.
The Llano Lady Dauber 8th Grade A Team took second place in the Burnet Middle School Volleyball Tournament on Saturday. Other teams participating were Liberty Hill, Johnson City, Burnet, Marble Falls and Fredericksburg. Members of the team, pictured from left, are: Hanna Snitkin, Haley Orange, Avery Joy, Rylee Humphries, Kara Minear, Regan Bentley, Kamryn Wenzel and Jordan Reed.
The Llano Yellowjacket Freshmen and Junior Varsity teams traveled to Burnet to take on the Bulldogs this past Thursday night. Playing with a depleted roster, the freshmen team suffered their second loss of the season while the Junior Varsity moved its record to 4-1 on the season with an impressive victory.

The score wasn’t pretty — 32-6, Burnet — and sometimes a second half that goes well is small consolation to fans, but Llano High head coach Craig Slaughter — who has the deciding vote — was pumped with the performance in Act Two’s 24 minutes. He was enthusiastic following the game and maybe more-so after he had seen the video.
“Played to the bitter end,” he bellowed early Saturday morning.
FREDERICKSBURG — A tough course at Lady Bird Park did not prevent good showings by Llano High boys and girls in the Billies’ cross country meet, September 24.
“Wonderful and difficult,” head coach Lauren Timms said of the layout — amended from previous contests here. “Perfect amount of everything, uphills and downhills.”
That wasn’t the exact translation for the participants wearing Orange and Black.
LEANDER — Everything looked as fresh as a thee-year-old on her birthday in the Glenn High gymnasium, September 20, as the new school welcomed Llano for a district volleyball game. The
Grizzlies only have freshmen and sophomores now, but they played well, and the Jackets had to rally for a 3-1 win.
“Game One built momentum for Game Two,” head coach John Black said.
It was the biggest win in Llano High volleyball since the playoff year of 2012. May not seem like a long time to you, but it has been for head coach John Black, in his fourth year in Llano. Let’s just say the late summer and autumn of ’13, ’14, and ’15 have not produced a lot of calm with the cooler weather.
