HORSESHOE BAY— Two men approaching 50, one who’s already had several birthdays in that decade of life, and a youngster at age 42, gathered at Slick Rock Golf Course on the first day of October.
Just like any other regular weekend players, who make a living between Thursdays and Sundays.
2003 PGA Champion, Shaun Micheel, was on hand.

LAGO VISTA—A half day’s work isn’t recommended, but when the half equals what Llano did, it would be accepted with the color and majesty of autumn leaves. The Jackets, against a team which humbled them a year ago, were superb in constructing a 31-0 lead, the cornerstone of a 51-15 win.
“The kids did well,” said assistant head coach, Ryan Priem.
FREDERICKSBURG—Nic George made it two consecutive fine races with a second-place finish in the Billies Cross Country Invitational. A good and appropriate showing—on the second day of autumn.
“I tried to keep up with Austin Zirkel of Medina,” Nic said, “but I should have decided sooner, because the gap was too big to make up.
FREDERICKSBURG—The freshman and the senior from Llano ran side by side in the Billies Cross Country Invitational, and the freshman won that duel—by a second. Anna Casey, for the first time in a brief varsity career, was the top Lady Jacket in a two-mile race, September 23, while Meagan Riley was next, and both finished in the top nine in a field of 64.
The pair led Llano to fourth-place in the eight-team standings.
“I was pleased,” Casey told me.
The Llano volleyball team continues to play as hard as it can, but the scoreboard’s bigger number has eyes for someone else.
Leander Glenn and Burnet swept the Jackets, September 19 and 22, and they remain winless (0-4) in 19-4A play.
“Working with lots of different lineups,” head coach John Black sighed in frustration.
The Llano Sub-Varsity teams were finally able to host a home game after being on the road for the first part of the season. The Llano Freshman held on to win their game against Lago Vista to remain undefeated and win their third game of the season while the Llano JV suffered a heart-breaking loss to the Vikings to suffer their first defeat of the year.
Both teams now turn their attention to playing Burnet as they host the Bulldogs this Thursday in Llano at Jacket Stadium.
The Llano Jr. High Daubers traveled to Lago Vista this past Thursday evening to tangle with the Vikings in their second game of the year.
The night started with a combined 7th and 8th Grade B team game that the Lago Vista Vikings won in a hard fought game 22-6. There were no stats available to report for this game, although this should be the last time this year where the 7th and 8th grade B teams are combined for a game.
In the second contest, the 7th Grade A team Daubers thumped the Vik ...
