A number of young men and women go to Europe following their graduation from college. Some are on vacation, while others work in private jobs or are sent abroad by the military. Not too many play football with the end of the World League of American Football, which endured from 1991 to 2007.
It is now present day, and we make a lengthy touchdown run to Germany, where there are two leagues, and if you need to reach Preston Rabb (LHS Class of 2011), he’s in one of them.

From “Dizzy Miss Lizzy” to “Octopus Garden”; from “These Boots Are Made For Walking” to “Give Peace a Chance,” the dancers of Wildflower Dance Studio entertained Llano audiences for two powerful nights.
Just barely a year into existence, the dance studio has already turned out two extremely well done shows, the first in December with “The Nutcracker,” and this weekend “Cinderella.” The Friday and Saturday presentations included a recital portion titled “A Beatles Antho ...
Out of the LHS 2016 graduating class of 106 students, Raychel Beasley ranks second and will be giving the salutatorian speech.
What brought her grade point average all the way down to 4.5800?
“In freshman year I made an 89 in geography in the last six weeks,” she said. “But I also have multiple hundreds.”
Beasley said the secret of her success was a bit of old-fashioned hard work.
“I study every night after eating supper with the family,” she said.
Cory Clausen tops the 2016 senior class of 106 Llano High School students with a grade point average of 4.6263.
He plans to attend Texas A&M University. He wants to study chemical engineering and enter a career in pharmaceuticals.
“I want to bring down the high price of medicine,” he said.
Clausen has had a well-rounded high school career.
There will be a new commissioner in Precinct 3 for Llano County as challenger Mike Sandoval upended incumbent Ron Wilson in Tuesday’s Republican Party primary runoff election.
Also on Tuesday, incumbent Bill Blackburn handily won the primary for sheriff against challenger James Schilling, who withdrew from the race last month. Schilling’s name had to remain on the ballot, however, due to state law.
In the Precinct 3 commissioner race, Sandoval won by a 201 (52.07 percent) to 185 (47.93 perc ...
Five years ago he was thinking about summer and the eighth grade. Today he’s also thinking about summer but before that, the State Championships. Cody Miller began pole vaulting as a seventh grader, and now he’s about to be part of the Track & Field cast that comprises the greatest display of high school talent in Texas.
“I’ve worked all year for this,” he told me.
The planning began a year ago when Paul La Fleur first walked into the Llano Chamber of Commerce with questions about opening a kayak rental business at Badu Park. The timing was perfect, the new sand beach had just been opened, the stair into the water and the boat ramp make for easy access, even for overweight, older guys such as myself.
The candidates for Llano County Commissioner in Precinct 3 disagreed about the need for moving the offices and more at last Thursday’s candidate forum held by the Llano Tea Party.
Incumbent Ron Wilson and challenger Mike Sandoval face each other in the May 24 Republican Party runoff.
In opening remarks, Sandoval described himself as a conservative, Christian and Republican.

They were just a little more puff-fect than their Junior sisters, and The Game was performed in a way the sport was played long ago—with defense dominating, so the final score would not be 55-52. The Seniors captured the annual Powder Puff skirmish, 6-0, on the lucky—and unlucky night of Friday the 13th.
Courtney Mize and Katelyn Blair took care of the points, with Mize throwing to Blair for a 30-yard touchdown not long after the first 20-minute half commenced.
