GEORGETOWN — Two fine performances by Llano High players in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes All-Star Classic football game. Austin-area athletes made up the teams. Offensive lineman Colton Center was on the Gold squad, while linebacker Wyatt Bauman wore Blue. Cameron Wayne Hall, an upcoming senior at Llano High School, received his Eagle Scout award on Thursday, June 2. He joins ranks with notable Eagle Scouts such as astronaut Neil Armstrong, former President Gerald Ford, former Texas Governor Rick Perry and his brother, Connor Hall. Cameron’s Eagle Scout project provided Llano High School with a handicap accessible ramp in the back parking lot.

A Llano resident died in a bicycle accident in Michigan on June 7. The fatal bicycle accident occurred on Main Street at about 5:20 p.m., near the Mackinac Island Public Library. A 79-year-old woman, Gail Gregory Johnson of Llano, was riding a rental bicycle west toward the boardwalk when she lost control.
Oh, what’s a wait of 47 years among friends? Ed Thompson of Horseshoe Bay filled the span profitably enough with the “routine” job of professional tennis player. But this story concerns his more-recent days with the T-shirt off—not on. Ed was “Mr. Texas” in the 1960s in the world of Bodybuilding, but he left that activity in 1969.
The Jack Moss painting of the Battle of Packsaddle Mountain is now on display at the Llano County Historical Museum. According to the artist, the painting depicts the last battle in Llano County between ranchers and Comanche Indians. This battle occurred on top of Packsaddle Mountain, which is located on the eastern edge of the county off of Highway 71.

Noessa Higa, producer of the “Man in the Can” movie, arrived early to Llano on Friday morning. Already here were 1,000 DVDs ready for the signing party to be held at Main Street Affairs on Saturday afternoon. Along with the DVDs were giveaways from Yeti Coolers, Wrangler Jeans and Pendleton Whiskey.
