More than 50 artists from all over the United States converged in Llano last weekend for the fourth annual Western Trappings art exhibit, which also included a juried show and live auction.
The weekend kicked off with the artist’s reception on Friday at the Llano Historical Museum. The reception was open to the public and provided local “trappings” enthusiasts the opportunity to meet the artists and purchase items that caught their fancy.

The 2016 Llano County Farm Bureau annual meeting was held Tuesday, Sept. 27, at the American Legion Hall in Llano. Over 150 members, board members and staff were on hand to enjoy a fried fish dinner and listen to Whitney Whitworth speak about Veterinary Feed Directive.

On Wednesday morning, Sept. 28, students at Llano Junior High School and Llano High School met early for See You at The Pole, a student led prayer session that began in 1990 as a grassroots movement.
That first morning there were 10 students that met at their flag pole, to lift up their friends, families, teachers, school and nation to God.
Not many folks can say they lived in Alaska, and even fewer can say they did lived there as a woman alone for eight years.
But that is exactly what Llano local, Eva Carter did from 1988 to 1996. Carter went up to visit her brother in Fairbanks, Alaska, for the Christmas holidays and realized she could make a lot more money than she could ever hope to in Texas.
“I went up there with a single suitcase for a short visit that turned into an eight-year stay,” remembers Carter.

Five Llano High School students were selected to be members of the Congressional Youth Advisory Council for the 11th District of Texas.
LHS seniors Cameron Hall, Evan Wheeler, McKenzie Cockerham, Erin Franklin and Jaden Napolez have all received this honor based on their leadership skills, academic performance and extracurricular interests.

Llano ISD Superintendent Casey Callahan is heading west. Callahan has accepted a position as executive director of the Region 15 Education Service Center in San Angelo, and he will begin his duties there in January. He will remain with Llano ISD through the end of the fall semester.

Cars and coaching has been the life for Ray Hamm. Hamm, who lives with his wife, Patricia, just outside Llano, is known for his love of classic vehicles and restoring them.
If not that, then he might know him simply as “Coach.” Hamm moved to Llano in 1997 to take over as the LHS football coach.
