A new Council member was sworn into Leandy Pletcher’s vacant seat at the start of April 4’s City Council Meeting. Gayla Guthrie filled the open City Council position and discussed with the other City Council members city park updates, Main Street safety upgrades and the solar site lease. A cross county Police Chase came to an end south of Johnson City at the HWY 0f 281 and HWY 290 East intersection. Johnson City Police Chief Randy Holland reported on Tuesday April 11, at approximately 2:00 am a Police pursuit was called out by Blanco County Dispatch as Comal County Sheriff’s Deputies and Bulverde Police Department were coming into South Blanco County. Blanco County Commissioners moved forward with sending an official letter to City of Blanco requesting funds; drafting a lease for the Old Blanco County Jail; and several construction projects around the county in their March 28 Court Session. At the March meeting of The Blanco County Pioneers Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, the winners of its annual essay contest were recognized. When I was very young I slept in a basement bedroom shared by my oldest brother, Boyd. He often worked after school and on Saturdays helping my father who made his living as a building contractor. Five were arrested for drug charges, on their way to California from South by Southwest Festival in Austin last week. On March 19th at approximately 2:46p.m. Johnson City Police Sgt. Chad Wiggins clocked a white four-door Honda passenger car at 48 mph in a posted 35 mph zone on Main street in Johnson City. Sgt Wiggins initiated a traffic stop on this vehicle.
