Members of the family of James Ross Leonard (Class of 1998) were on hand as coaches and students from JCISD dedicated a plaque in his honor in the LBJ High School gym where he spent countless Tuesday and Friday nights watching his beloved Lady Eagles. Leonard, who passed away April 9th, scored the go-ahead basket for the 1947 Johnson City Eagles in the Class B State Basketball Championship Game and went on to a successful coaching career in girls’ basketball and track.

Members of the 2019 Eagle Football team are prepping for the upcoming season with a summer of 7- on-7. The JC team won three games and lost one in the Falls City State Qualifying Tournament – “SQT” in 7-on-7 lingo – this past Friday. The Eagles rattled off the three wins with a 32-6 trouncing of Woodsboro, 13-7 decision over Runge and a 26-12 semifinal victory over Ganado.
Christ Lutheran Church will host their family-style Vacation Bible School June 10th – 14th from 9:30am to 11:30am. All ages, from babies to adults are invited to attend. Dripping Springs— Hill Country Youth Orchestras, in partnership with the Arts Alliance of Central Texas, will host auditions at Dripping Springs High School on Thursday, June 6, 2019. Auditions are open to any string player with at least one-year of experience. Students should prepare one solo piece or excerpt of their choosing (minimum one-minute in length) and at least one scale (two octaves preferred).
More Texans could be prescribed a cannabis derivative to treat certain disorders under a bill approved by the Senate on Wednesday, May 22. Therapeutic use of cannabidiol (CBD) oil was first allowed in Texas under a bill passed two sessions ago but could only for the treatment of a particular seizure disorder that resists standard treatments.

AUSTIN— For the second time in four years, the Legislature failed to pass a bill to establish basic standards of shelter and care for restrained dogs in Texas, the Texas Humane Legislation Network.  Senate Bill 295 by Sen.
