The Original Texas Star Trail from Fredericksburg is an annual central Texas weeklong trail riding event usually starting around the first weekend of March of each year. The ride traverses and covers a route used by most of the former settlers in the Texas hill country around the Fredericksburg Texas area when they needed to go to the Texas Capital in Austin.

Come sample a biscuit cooked over an open camp fire, make a corn husk doll or "knot" doll, make a rope, stop at the forge to observe the blacksmiths at work. These are some of the activities being planned for Spring Break at the Pioneer Museum. Spring Break at the Pioneer Museum starts on Saturday, March 7 and continues Monday through Saturday the 9th – 14th, with a wide variety of hands-on activities, demonstrations and reenactments each day.

The Big Bend area of Texas is unique, is beautiful, is important, and one of the least visited locations in the Lone Star State. Why? I'm glad I asked myself that question and I'll answer all of it, starting with its location first. You know something? Those of us who fish the waters of the Texas Hill Country can count our lucky stars. Not only do we have world-class angling for warm-water species like largemouth black bass, stripers, catfish and crappie — we also get a chance at a great sport fish from those cold-water streams up in Yankee land.
