Donna Jo Thompson Zunker, 80, peacefully passed to be with her Lord and Savior on Oct. 5, 2018. Donna Jo was currently residing at the Morningside Ministries community in Boerne, Texas after spending her retirement years on the ranch in Blanco, Texas. Donna Jo was born in Houston, Texas on May 18, 1938, the middle child of Albert and Norma Thompson.
Theresa Joan (Plisek) Shafford, age 87, passed away on Oct. 2, 2018, at home surrounded by her family. She was born in Goltry, Oklahoma to Joe and Nell (Dain) Plisek on Feb. 19, 1931. She was preceded in death by her husband Bill, parents Joe and Nell Plisek, her sister Barbara Pekrul, and her brother in law Hart Pekrul.
Francis Edward Hartmann, 94, of Blanco passed away on Friday, Sept. 28, 2018, at his residence in Blanco surrounded by family and friends. Francis was born on Dec. 3, 1923 to Clara Jenschke Hartmann and Edward Hartmann. He was a member of St. Ferdinand Catholic Church in Blanco and a World War II Army Air Corps Veteran.
Betty Lucy Klauberg Courtney was born on March 29, 1927 in Houston, Texas, the second daughter of Walter and Jewel Klauberg. She died peacefully on Sept. 26, 2018, in San Marcos, Texas. Betty married Jack Wournel Courtney on July 13, 1948. Jack was a World War II Navy veteran. Betty and Jack enjoyed a wonderful marriage until Jack unexpectedly died in 1991.
Catherine Lavonia Levassar Ehlers, 95, of Blanco, Texas passed away on Friday, Sept. 07, 2018, at LBJ Medical Center in Johnson City. Catherine was born on Aug. 22, 1923, in Athens, Texas to Helen Lavonia Walters Knight and James Knight. She was a wife, mother, grandmother who loved her family dearly and will be missed by all who knew her. Catherine is survived by her son, James Levassar and his wife Gladys of Tow, Texas; sister, Lucille Hobbs of Chandler, Texas; half-sisters, Barbara Abb ...
The memorial service for Margaret Maxine Blackburn will be Saturday, Sept. 15, 2018 in the Blanco First Baptist Church sanctuary at 10 a.m. Interment will take place at the Blanco Historic Cemetery following the service.
Hilmar John Preiss, Jr. of Blanco, Texas passed away on Monday, Sept. 10, 2018, at L.B.J. Medical Center in Johnson City, Texas. “Junior” as his family referred to him as was born on Oct. 19, 1930, in Twin Sisters, Texas to Lucy Merle Reeves Preiss and Hilmar John Preiss, Sr. He was a lifelong resident of Blanco and was retired truck driver for railroad companies and various ranches in Uvalde and Sonora, Texas.

Benjamin Maurice Copeland, Jr. of Blanco peacefully passed away on Monday, August 27, 2018, at his residence surrounded in the love of his wife and his LORD and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was comforted by many family and friends in the community the days prior as he surrendered his battle to cancer. Benjamin was born on February 3, 1941, in Laredo, Texas to Geraldine “Jerry” Candlin Copeland and Benjamin Maurice Copeland, Sr.
