CASA Returns to Marble Falls
The nineth Annual Marble Falls Soapbox Classic will take place June 15-17, 2018. The historic downtown district of Marble Falls will be filled with racing, live music, vendors and excitement! “We are thrilled about the racing changes made to the Derby event the last few years.” said event producer, Shannon Heep.

The Blanco High School 2018 Top Ten were honored at a recognition banquet May 22, 2018, hosted by the newly formed Blanco Education Foundation by the BISD Board of Trustees. The banquet, held at the Old Blanco County Courthouse, honored the top academic students of the class of 2018 and their teacher of greatest influence. Superintendent Clay Rosenbaum welcomed the honorees, their guests and families.
At the May 22 meeting, County commissioners resolved previously discussed issues and conducted new business. Commissioners approved previous meeting minutes, outstanding bills amounting to $84,836.71 and line item transfers. Line item transfers included $1,000 transferred from office supplies to the dishwasher lease fund for the Blanco County Jail. The Sheriff’s Office reported the additional funds are necessary due to an increase in the jail population.
All 1,333 ballots cast in Blanco County in the 2018 Runoff Election, May 22, have been counted and the candidates for November’s general election chosen by voters. Precinct 2 of Blanco County chose their lone candidate for Commissioner, Republican, Emil Ray Uecker. Uecker received 52 percent of votes in the Commissioner race against fellow Republican Lance Odiorne who received 47 percent of votes. Governor holds safety talks Gov. Abbott on May 22 launched a series of roundtable discussions “to generate solutions that improve safety and security at Texas schools and in our communities.” Abbott’s forums at the Capitol were in the aftermath of the May 18 shooting that left 10 dead and 10 injured at Santa Fe High School near Galveston.

The Lindendale community will hold its June potluck supper meeting this Friday at the Lindendale community center and one-room schoolhouse at 7686 Ranch Road 1888, about half way between Blanco and Fredericksburg. This month’s theme is “A Lindendale Luau” and a whole pig, provided by the Kuebel family, will be roasted.
