Hotel Occupancy Tax funds or H.O.T. funds are a “hot” topic in many cities, and Blanco has been no exception. Understanding the H.O.T. funds and what those funds can be used for is not very complicated, and the Chamber of Commerce would like to help interested individuals and organizations learn what they need to know in order to consider making application for these funds. The Chamber, currently under contract with the City of Blanco, manages the H.O.T.

Blanco County Commissioners held a special meeting Sept. 25, 2018, all four commissioners were present. This past weekend the fourth annual Twin Sisters “Raise the Roof” fundraiser was packed with things to do, including an early screening of a documentary featuring the dancehall, a dance and more. Texas Regional Bank has already begun construction of their latest renovation, or some may call it “de-renovation.” TRB wanted to show off the building’s rich history by reverting to the original construction. Work began with the east side of the bank in what will house the new Texas Regional Bank Community Room.

Mike Arnold moved his family to Blanco from San Antonio eight years ago and fell in love with the charms of the town. He had gone to school in San Antonio, founded a TV news network and was running a youth ministry nationwide but needed a change. “I’m a builder, not a maintainer,” Arnold said.
