Five signers were captured by the British and, as traitors, were tortured before they died. Twelve had their homes ransacked and burned. Two lost their sons serving in the Revolutionary Army; another had two sons captured.
The Blanco County Appraisal District Board approved the Appraisal office’s budget for the upcoming fiscal year. They also enacted a no cash policy to be phased into this year’s tax collection.

The board opened a public hearing in which no one from the public expressed questions or concerns with the proposed budget.
AUSTIN — State emergency responders geared up for the first time this hurricane season in response to Tropical Storm Cindy, which came ashore just east of the Texas-Louisiana border on June 22.

The resignation of longtime Blanco Middle School counselor Lisa Rogers, who has been the subject of an ongoing investigation for allegedly having an inappropriate relationship with a student, was made effective immediately on Monday by the Blanco Independent School District Board of Education.
Board members conducted a special meeting on Monday evening with Rogers as the only agenda item.
