The winner of the Ruby Waters quilt drawing is Denise Goff, daughter of one of member Evonne Brooks, pictured at right with Julie Swofford (left). Waters is a long-time resident of Blanco. The chapter thanks all who donated and participated in this fundraiser. Husband and wife optometrists Kyle Florio and Sarah Berg will be joined by optometrist Lisa Cantrel in opening Johnson City Eyecare. The grand opening was held Oct. 2, 2018.
Dr. Florio grew up in Longview playing baseball with the Longview Lobos baseball team. After graduating with honors, he attended the University of Illinois for two years with a NCAA Division I baseball scholarship.
Texas Regional Bank has already begun construction of their latest renovation, or some may call it “de-renovation.” TRB wanted to show off the building’s rich history by reverting to the original construction.
Work began with the east side of the bank in what will house the new Texas Regional Bank Community Room.
Twin Sisters treated patrons to a showing of the Dance Hall Days documentary that received the award for Best Texas Film at the Hill Country Festival in April. Erik McCowan, a documentary filmmaker from Gonzalez, was on hand to introduce the film and answer questions after the showing, which features the Twin Sisters Dance Hall as well as halls throughout the state include the Fischer, Kendalia, Albert and Sisterdale halls.

Opening night on Oct. 6 features a Duo Recital by Ilya Shterenberg, principal clarinet with the San Antonio Symphony, and Scott Cuellar, gold medal winner of the San Antonio International Piano Competition.
The Rust Chapel was filled with guests Sunday, Sept. 16 for a concert performed by the music department of Texas State University.
Music selections for the event were some of Señior Rust’s favorites ranging from Bach, Astor Piazzolla to mariachi music.
A cello solo began the event, followed by a group of students on woodwind instruments.

David’s Law, also known as SB 197, is a law passed with the Texas Senate’s vote of 31-0 on April 20 of this year. The purpose of David’s Law is to combat cyberbullying abuse of the younger generations in Texas. The bill was named after David Molak, a 16-year-old boy who attended Alamo Heights High School.
