Hill Country Memorial will host several diabetes education seminars and classes in September at the HCM Wellness Center conference room (1006 S. State Hwy. 16) in Fredericksburg. For those diagnosed with diabetes, HCM offers a suite of “Be Well with Diabetes” seminars. The “Self-Care Management of Diabetes” seminar will be Tuesday, Sept.

Beginning Sept. 9, the Blanco County Community Choir will begin rehearsals for their upcoming Christmas 2018 performances. The choir will be co-directed by Vickie Pautz, who has been involved in the choir since 1980, and Beverly Voron, who originally founded the choir in 1972. According to Mrs. Voron, the Blanco County Community Choir was the first community choir in the county, apart from individual church choirs. Hill Country Astronomers (HCA) will meet at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 4, in the HEB Activity Room at Hill Country University Center in Fredericksburg. Charter HCA member and club Astronomical League correspondent, Jack Petersen, will present a program on collimation – optical alignment – of the various types of telescopes reviewed in last month’s meeting.

Livestock Exposition Scholarship
The Texas Wildlife Association Foundation (TWAF) and the San Antonio Livestock Exposition, Inc. (SALE) have joined forces to offer San Antonio Livestock Exposition, Inc. Scholarships. Scholarships in the amount of $10,000 will be awarded to incoming freshmen at all Texas universities and colleges. The scholarship application is available on the Texas Wildlife Association website, www.texas-wildlife.org.
