Our 7-8 year-old boys (pictured) concluded their 2016 season as Champions of the Fredericksburg tournament this past weekend. An epic ending to a great season for these young men. Mason was undefeated in the tournament with early round wins over Kerrville and Burnet leading them to a match-up against Llano for the opportunity to play in the finals.
COLLEGE STATION – Aspiring youth wanting to enter the veterinary animal health profession recently received week-long training that included hands-on demonstrations with beef cattle and horses, plus tours of the Texas A&M’s College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences in College Station. Mason County 4-H was represented at the 2016 Texas 4-H Roundup contest called “Share the Fun.” Kendra Klaerner, 4-H member and Junior from Mason ISD performed on Thursday, June 9 at the Rudder Complex on the campus of Texas A&M University. Our 7-8 year-old (8U) boys followed up last weekend’s 2nd place finish to bring home a 3rd place trophy in Llano this past weekend. Other area towns in the tournament were Llano, Brady, Johnson City, Kerrville, Boerne, Blanco, San Saba, Fredericksburg and Burnet (both Fredericksburg and Burnet had two teams each). Several Mason junior tennis players started the summer season this last weekend as Mason hosted the Summer Swing Tournament. Due to several players taking SAT tests and others being out of town, the draws were a little small, but the competition was still very good. Mason Elementary is proud to announce that they met two Schoolwide Goals this school year. The first goal met was the Leadership Goal in which 100% of the Mason Elementary students held Leadership Roles during the school year. Mason Elementary also met their Academic Goal which was for the students to read 14,000 books and 48 million words by the end of the school year. Students in Kindergarten through Fourth Grade read 48,202,546 words as they read 14, 482 books! Wow!
