On August 12 the final steps were taken and Mason Bank purchased the entire bond issue of Certificates of Obligation from the City providing $1,800,000 to pay for all of the construction costs for this new project.
Frida says don’t forget about me! Frida was one of the (9) dogs we recently rescued from our local pound. She is one of the sweetest dogs you will ever meet. All the other dogs have been adopted, and now we need that special someone for a special girl! Frida is between 1-2 years old.

While I must admit that neither of my grandmothers made these little cakes, my mother certainly did. Hognose snakes are fascinating animals. They get their name from their up-turned snouts, which they use to root for their favorite prey, namely toads. The coloration of Hognose snakes is quite variable, and can range through various shades and combinations of yellow, orange, brown, and black. They usually have a roughly checkerboard-like pattern of light and dark blotches, but some individuals (especially dark ones) can be nearly uniform in coloration.
School has started in Mason. Hopefully, our students and teachers will have a great year. It may be a different year, but hopefully by spring, all will be normal again. The shutters that were replaced at the Art United Methodist Church months ago could not be opened because of the design of the hinges.

Just in time for the start of high school football season, sports aficionados soon will be seeing a new sports editor for the Mason County News around the fields. Andrew Salmi, who is from Southern California, recently made the big move from Oklahoma, where he covered sports for several newspapers. He might be new to Llano, but he’s no greenhorn when it comes to sports. “My family and pretty much any of my friends would tell you that I live and breathe sports,” Salmi said.
In these crazy times of COVID-19, we all strive to continue our lives as “normal” as possible. In the Hill Country, the fall is often a time of festivals, celebrations, and fund raisers. At St. Mary’s Catholic Church in San Saba, Texas, we, like many others, are getting creative when looking at traditional festivals and celebrations. In an effort to continue our annual Festival, while being safe and practicing social distancing, we are moving our event to Risien Park in San Saba.
