Predators and Second Chances
Hognose snakes are fascinating animals. They get their name from their up-turned snouts, which they use to root for their favorite prey, namely toads. The coloration of Hognose snakes is quite variable, and can range through various shades and combinations of yellow, orange, brown, and black. They usually have a roughly checkerboard-like pattern of light and dark blotches, but some individuals (especially dark ones) can be nearly uniform in coloration.
