May Owen, of Mason, passed away on Tuesday, April 9, at the age of 102. May Owen is survived by her daughter-in-law Linda Owen of Mason, 3 grandchildren: Terry Owen and wife Kelly of Sonora, Jeff Owen of Mason and Debbie Owen of Mason and six great-grandchildren: Rylee Owen, Baylee Owen, Zach Hudson and wife Megan, Rebeckah Owen, Reagan Owen and Gage Owen.
Beverly Ann Goff, age 76, passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2019. She was born July 26, 1942, in Wilson, Oklahoma to Walter and Virginia Crabb. She moved to Texas with her family for her senior year of high school. She called herself an “Okie” but she was a Texan at heart.
Alfred James (A.J.) Baker passed away on April 2, 2019, after a long battle with cancer. He was born September 2, 1939, in Austin, Texas, to Noel James and Martha Stewart Baker and raised by his father and stepmother, Florence Biggers Baker, whom he loved dearly. A.J. was a 1958 graduate of McCallum High School in Austin.
Pedro Govea Castillo was born July 30, 1942 in Madero Del Rio, Mexico to Jose Castillo and Augustina Govea.. Purisima was raised and lived in Acuna Coah. as a child. He is survived by his wife of 11 years, Delma Castillo of Midland, his sons Rafael Castillo and wife Imelda of Mason, Pedro Castillo Jr.
June LaVerne Viser Grote, 94, longtime resident of Corpus Christi, Texas and most recently Columbia, Missouri, died on March 23, 2019, after a full and useful life. On Friday April 5, 2019, friends’ and family visitation will start at 10 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, 900 S Shoreline Blvd, Corpus Christi, TX 78401.
John Henry Hofmann was born on March 5, 1937, in Mason, Texas, the second child to Virgil Banks and Chester Victor Hofmann. John Henry, named for his two grandfathers, was a typical small town boy who spent hours hunting the Texas Hill Country and fishing the Llano and James Rivers.
Effie Lorene Haines Dunlap passed away at her home surrounded by her family on Friday, March 22, at the age of 88. She was born at home in a small rock house in western Mason County on April 2, 1930. Her parents were Lee Burt Haines Sr. and Effie A. Gray Haines.
Ann Goff, of Mason, passed away on Sunday, March 24, at the age of 76. Mrs. Goff is survived by a daughter Donna Johnson and husband Billy of Mason, a step-son Mike Goff and two brothers. Visitation with the family will be Friday, March 29, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Mason Funeral Home. Mrs.
Weldon Thomas Tucker (“Tuck” or “Pop”) went to be with his Heavenly Father on March 6, 2019. He was the son of Frank and Alvina Tucker and was born on October 17, 1936. He was a native of the Oak Cliff area of Dallas, Texas, where he worked for Dreyfus and Son as a clothier and later became a real estate broker for the firm of Hudson and Hudson in Dallas. He attended Adamson High School, where he met the love of his life, Pat (Honey) Maples.
Elvie Trudell Zesch Donop of Mason, Texas passed away in her lifelong home on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at the age of 93. She was born November 15, 1925 on the family ranch, near the banks of the Llano river, close to White’s Crossing. She was the second of two children.
